Son of Mr John White of Pleasley Vale
He joined army in 1904 aged 15
When war was declared he passed recruits at Grantham and Whitley Camps where he was considered to be the best shot in his Battalion.
He went to Gallipoli in June 1915 and received a bayonet wound to the back of his leg. He lay wounded in No Mans land until the following day. When he was finally found he was sent to hospital in Alexandria and from there he went to Cyprus and the to King George’s Hospital in London. He died in the London hospital.

He lived in Liverpool, New South Wales.He was born in Clay Cross, Derbyshire and went to Australia from China possibly due to his service with the Royal Marine Light Infantry before the war.He enlisted into the 4th Battalion AIF on 24th November 1914. He was promoted to Serjeant on 1st January 1915. His service papers show he was 5 feet 9 inches tall and weight as 10 stones.
