My name is Anthony Bagshaw, i am 23 years of age and live in Mansfield Woodhouse.

I became interested in the First World War at the age of 18 when i discovered that my Great Grandfather had served.

My Great Grandfather, 6816 Company Serjeant Major George Thomas Stokes, served with the 11th Service Battalion Sherwood Foresters. I also discovered that he had seen service with the 2nd Battalion of the Northamptonshire Regiment during the Boer War of 1899-1902.
Fotunately, he survived the war and i have just been lucky enough to locate his service papers.

My Great Grandfather's Brother in Law, 10525 Lance Corporal Edward Henry Eldred was killed serving with the 2nd Battalion The Royal Berkshire Regiment on 25th September 1915 and lies buried in White City Cemetery, Bois Grenier.

I have also discovered two further relatives who were both killed.
